Week 4

Hello and welcome to Week 4.  Wow, that has come around quickly!

We have had three weeks jam packed full of learning including the netball tournament on
Wednesday that went very well.  It was great seeing everyone trying their hardest, working as a team and encouraging others in their team.  It was a fun afternoon.

We are doing Chapter Chat on twitter which involves reading a book along with many other Year 5/6 classes in the country.  The book we are reading is 'Called Fish in a Tree' and Rm 5 are getting right into the cool activities provided each week.  On Fridays we post our work onto the Chapter Chat Page to share with other schools.

Another exciting thing we have been trying out is Kahoot.  It is a site where you can make up your own quizzes on any topic.  The rest of the class can all join in by entering a pin number and taking the quiz together.  Its been a fun way to learn more information on a topic, as well as learn how to select questions with multiple choice answers.

This week your child will have 5 spelling words to learn.  These will be tested on Friday.

I am hoping that your child is reading each night.  They can either bring home a journal or read a book of their choice.  If your child records their reading in their diaries, they will receive 4 points on Dojo for the week.  Being a great 'Self-manager' is really important and we are making this a real focus this term.

The Rippa Tournament is this Thursday so lots of Rm 5 students will be playing their little hearts out for the day.

Feel free to come see me any time if you would like to chat about your child, or call me on 0275618000.

Kind regards

Hello everyone.

Firstly, I realise my  mobile number in the newsletter was wrong, my correct number is 0275618000.  I'm very sorry about that.

I hope your child has settled into the term ok and is embracing the changes in Rm 5. We have been busy setting up routines and your kids are working hard and stepping up to the new expectations and challenges.  The days are flying by and their doesn't seem to be enough hours in the school day to fit in all that we need to!  We have Sticks n Stones, ukulele and netball coaching added to our busy schedule  so there is a lot going on.

On Friday we did some Environmental Art with Room 6.  We created 2D patterns and 3D Sculptures with natural products found  around the school.  Check these out.
