Term 2, Week 7

Hi there folks,

Nothing too major to report this week.  Last week we had an excellent week at school.  I love settling into terms 2 and 3 where the interruptions to class learning time are minimal and we can really get into some regular work time in class.  Our routines are well and truly set and the expectations around learning and classroom behaviour seem to come together so well at this time of year.

We've been doing some inside yoga/go noodle sessions as the weather has been fairly miserable for our fitness time.  This is great though as we are introduced to some fairly gently yoga type practice by way of a blue cartoon monkey called Maximo - get your kids to show you if you want to know more - he's great.

Rippa Tournament:  Please remember to register your children on the www.sporty.co.nz/viewform/62313 site if they are registered to play in the up and coming rippa tournament.  This will need to be done asap.   We have updated news that if your child is registered as a rugby player already, they won't need to be registered twice.

We're also after a parent to help with a team - please let me know if you are available to help on the day - June 21st.

Keep up the good work with the basic facts and times tables folks.  I've had some good feedback from parents letting me know about the efforts your kids are making to remember these facts.
Basic Facts are all addition and subtraction facts using all numbers up to 20.  For example 4+7 = 11 and 19-6=13.  They are basic but essential little facts that will take us a long way in everyday maths.  Helping your child learn these will also help them progress through school maths with much more ease than if they were still having to figure these sums out moving forward.
Doubles to 20 are also a part of your basic facts eg 2+2=4, 6+6=12, 8+8=16.

If there any updates to our timetable I'll flick you all a message on Seesaw.

Have a great week,

Mrs Lyon
